are you planning to assemble a happy birthday banner at home? here are 3 simple steps to assemble a very professional made banner. You can get one of my DIY BANNER SETS and get all the pieces that you will need to create your own banner at home. It would be unique, cute and you will feel so proud when you finish it or you can cut the pieces at home.
Many of my clients are asking me about how to assemble one of my signature DIY BANNER SETS, here are the basic instructions:
1. Organize the pieces on a flat surface: accommodate all the pieces on a table or the floor. Make sure to get all you need to complete your project and put all the pieces in the order that you are going to glue them, do not glue anything before you are 100% sure that you have all the pieces. believe me you don’t want to miss a letter or to glue a piece in the wrong place.
2. Glue : Start gluing in the order of the letters since the begining to the end.
I suggest you to use a dry glue , you can use glue stick or if you want you also can use double side tape if you have some at home. Double side tape may be too fancy and more expensive. You will be just fine with glue stick. I do not recommend liquid glue because if you use too much the cardstock can get wet and loose the shape.
TIP : use a clean piece of cloth or towel to clean the excess of glue or to press all the pieces to the base of the letters. This is really useful specially when you are gluing the letters or small pieces.
3. Let it dry
Also I recommend you to let the elements dry before you assemble the banner with the ribbon (10 to 20 minutes). Sometimes after that I put them under a book or something a little heavy on top of a table or a totally flat surface so I make sure all the pieces are totally flat and ready to assemble it. If you are not in a hurry leave it overnight and assemble it in the morning. It is really not a big deal , the wait is just to assure everything it is on its place.
4. Assemble it using a pretty ribbon. I usually use 3/8 grosgrain ribbon for my banners. Make a small loop at the end of each side of your banner.
